In October 2022 the USDA sent a notice of inspection suspension to the plant manager after an employee failed to stun a sow for slaughter twice using a rifle, then shot her twice with a small-bore shotgun (given to the employee by the manager). Four days later, after the manager provided the USDA with proposed corrective actions, the USDA sent notification that its suspension would be held in abeyance.
